&lt;p&gt;You’ll work on features that redefine what it means to build software in Retool. Whether that’s building rich interfaces for users to interact with LLMs and take action, extending our eval system to support a wider array of use cases within Retool, or iterating on our underlying model architecture to be faster, more resilient, and produce higher-quality output, we have a lot exciting technical challenges ahead of us.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Retool is built primarily in JavaScript and TypeScript, Node.js on the backend, and React on the frontend. We’ll look to you to bring your experience to build within this environment and impact our codebase. You’ll also engage in technical decision-making with the team, participate in planning, and help our engineering team expand its skillset. To that end, you’ll also play a key role in helping us grow the team through interviewing potential new team members.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Craft and deliver magical, highly-differentiated AI experiences that Builders in Retool can’t live without&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Iterate on our underlying model architecture, with a focus on performance, reliability, and observability&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to establish best practices and patterns for building AI products&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Help assess and recruit future engineers&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Work on increasing the scalability of Retool’s platform as a whole (e.g. frontend application performance, reducing query latencies)&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;THE SKILLSET YOU&#39;LL BRING:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;6+ years experience in professional software development, ideally some of which you’ve spent in startups&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Experience working with LLMs, including state of the art techniques (chain of thought, fine-tuning, few-shot learning, etc).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Experience across the entire stack, from backend to frontend (and if you have a preference, we’d love to hear it!)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Nice to have: experience with Vector databases, and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and data pipelines&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Nice to have: exposure to evaluation systems, including running experiments, labeling, user feedback, and scoring methods.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Nice to have: exposure to MLOps techniques (fine-tuning pipelines, model-hosting).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Experience with cloud based infrastructure like Azure, AWS or GCP&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to make technical decisions quickly, while looping in key stakeholders, too&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A customer-first mindset and an interest in talking with customers to make sure what we’re building meets their needs&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Habit of introspection and understanding what’s helped you be successful in the past&lt;/li&gt;
