ABOUT RETOOL
Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software for critical operations like tracking performance metrics, handling customer support workflows, building admin dashboards, and countless other processes you might not have even thought of. But most companies don't have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.
At Retool, we’re building the first enterprise AppGen platform: software that transforms natural language into production-ready code, integrates directly with business data, and meets the highest standards of security and governance. AI is redefining what it means to build software—and who gets to build it. The definition of “developer” now includes analysts, operators, and domain experts creating solutions directly. As the pool of builders widens, so does the complexity of what they need to build. The opportunity is enormous, but so is the challenge of enabling this larger community to build production-grade software safely. That means AI that understands real business data, enforces enterprise policies automatically, and empowers teams to create once and reuse everywhere with shared, trusted components.
Over 100 million hours of work has been automated by developers and domain experts using our platform, freeing them to focus on creative problem-solving and strategic initiatives that drive real business value. The people closest to knowing what needs to be built can now safely create custom solutions within enterprise guardrails. And that's a mission worth striving for.
Let's build the future together!
WHY WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU
We're looking for a Product Manager to own and drive critical workstreams on Retool's Enterprise Platform team. This is the team that builds the platform layer governing how organizations adopt, secure, and scale Retool - so their teams can build and run apps, automations, and AI agents confidently across the enterprise.
The platform stack spans deployment infrastructure, permissions and access controls, audit logging, admin tooling, API / MCP integrations, and more. As AI agents and AI-powered workflows become central to how enterprises build and operate on Retool, both the deployment infrastructure and the governance layer need to evolve - to handle new compute and scaling demands, new trust and safety requirements, and new operational complexity. Much of that work will be yours. You'll own focused projects at a time and drive them end-to-end - scoping the problem, making tradeoffs, shipping, and iterating with customers. The work is technically complex, high-stakes, and directly tied to our largest customers' ability to trust and expand their use of Retool.
This is a role where you'll demonstrate strong execution across a couple of high-impact projects - getting deep into the details, leading across engineering, product, and design, partnering closely with go-to-market, and building direct relationships with our most valued customers. You'll need to be decisive, technically sharp, and comfortable pushing back when priorities compete. The right person brings platform instincts: you build scalable solutions rather than reactive, piecemeal features.
You'll join a small, experienced team that values clear thinking, speed, and direct communication - and a company where product is a core driver of how the business grows.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL
Your goal is to make it simple for enterprises to adopt, deploy, and trust Retool across their organization - including as AI agents and autonomous workflows become a core part of how they build. That means ensuring our deployment infrastructure is robust and scalable, meeting security, compliance, and governance requirements without slowing down builders, and making sure the platform's controls and infrastructure keep pace as what gets built on Retool grows more powerful.
You'll work across problems like:
- How do we simplify deploying and managing Retool across different customer environments - and ensure our deployment infrastructure is robust enough to support the compute, scaling, and reliability demands of AI-powered workloads?
- How should permissions, audit logging, and compliance controls evolve to meet enterprise needs without adding friction for developers?
- What's the right API and infrastructure-as-code surface (API, Terraform, MCP etc.) for enterprise platform teams to manage Retool at scale?
- How do we reduce the operational burden on customers adopting Retool - making onboarding and expansion feel seamless?
- How do we build governance primitives that are flexible enough for diverse org structures but opinionated enough to be useful out of the box?
- As AI agents and autonomous workflows proliferate, what deployment infrastructure, governance, permissioning, and resource controls do enterprises need to run them reliably and safely at scale?
Day to day, you'll:
- Drive projects end-to-end - from discovery through launch - without needing hand-holding
- Make decisions and own tradeoffs rather than seeking broad consensus
- Work closely with engineering on deeply technical problems (data connectivity, infrastructure, access control systems)
- Partner with sales and customer success to understand enterprise pain points, while maintaining a strong point of view on what to build vs. what to push back on
- Spend time directly with customers to understand how they deploy, govern, and scale internal tools
THE SKILLSET YOU'LL BRING
- 4+ years of product management experience at a technology company, ideally one selling to enterprises
- Strong technical background - you've been an engineer, or you work at an engineering depth that lets you evaluate architecture decisions and tradeoffs directly
- Track record of shipping complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end with high independence
- Decisive product instincts - you form strong opinions, make calls, and course-correct rather than waiting for alignment
- Experience bridging engineering and go-to-market teams - you can translate customer needs into product priorities and arm sales with what they need
- Comfortable working directly with enterprise customers and navigating the complexity of their environments
- Platform thinking - you default to scalable, systematic solutions rather than one-off feature work
- AI fluency - you understand how AI agents, LLMs, and autonomous workflows behave, what infrastructure and resource demands they introduce, and what constraints (cost, latency, safety, unpredictability) enterprises need to manage to deploy them confidently
- Ability to maintain focus and a strong point of view under pressure from competing stakeholder requests
- Strong ownership mindset - you do what's needed to ship the right product, not just what's in scope
