ABOUT RETOOL

Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software for critical operations like tracking performance metrics, handling customer support workflows, building admin dashboards, and countless other processes you might not have even thought of. But most companies don't have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.

At Retool, we’re building the first enterprise AppGen platform: software that transforms natural language into production-ready code, integrates directly with business data, and meets the highest standards of security and governance. AI is redefining what it means to build software—and who gets to build it. The definition of “developer” now includes analysts, operators, and domain experts creating solutions directly. As the pool of builders widens, so does the complexity of what they need to build. The opportunity is enormous, but so is the challenge of enabling this larger community to build production-grade software safely. That means AI that understands real business data, enforces enterprise policies automatically, and empowers teams to create once and reuse everywhere with shared, trusted components.

Over 100 million hours of work has been automated by developers and domain experts using our platform, freeing them to focus on creative problem-solving and strategic initiatives that drive real business value. The people closest to knowing what needs to be built can now safely create custom solutions within enterprise guardrails. And that's a mission worth striving for.

Let's build the future together!

WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU:

We’re growing fast and evolving into a new phase of scale. We need a Head of Business Operations who can partner with our executive leadership — the CEO, CFO, COO, and business unit leads — to design, build, and optimize how we work. You’ll own high-leverage strategic initiatives and operational frameworks that will shape our company’s path to maturity and sustained growth.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll join a dynamic, growing Finance team that aspires to serve customers across the business with high-quality financial reporting and insights. In addition to working with different Finance team members, you will partner with teams across the business as we establish processes and the infrastructure required to support our growing business.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of major cross-functional initiatives: define the challenge, design the solution, lead execution, measure outcomes, and iterate.
  • Partner closely with leaders across product, engineering, go-to-market (GTM), finance, and operations—helping prioritize business opportunities, clarify trade-offs, and drive alignment.
  • Build and scale operating rhythms, frameworks, metrics, dashboards, and processes that give the leadership team clarity and focus.
  • Evaluate and support new operational functions, teams, or areas of investment — including resource allocation, staffing models, cost/benefit analysis, and performance measurement.
  • Drive our path toward greater operational maturity (process excellence, systems design, data-driven decision making), ensuring we build the right foundation for sustained growth.
  • Help translate strategic goals into operational plans and ensure consistent execution across the organization.
  • Mentor and lead a lean but high-impact business operations team—defining roles, building systems, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

THE SKILLSET YOU'LL BRING:

  • Significant experience in business operations, strategy, or similar roles—ideally with both consulting/investment-banking background and time in a high-growth tech or operations scale-up environment.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills: you can dive into data, surface insights, and turn them into actionable plans and operational change.
Strong communicator: you can take complex problems and present clear recommendations to senior leadership, bridging technical, business, and operational audiences.
Structured, organized, and execution-oriented: you’ve run major projects end to end, built processes from scratch, and scaled teams or functions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: you can thrive in fast-moving, evolving environments and bring clarity where there’s uncertainty.
  • A mindset of partnership and impact: you view yourself as an enabler of business teams and see your team as “connective tissue” for the entire org.
  • Preferred: experience at a fast-scaling company (50 → 500+ employees), sitting at the intersection of operations and strategy; familiarity with SaaS or tech business models; experience building dashboards/KPIs.
